Three cheers for the newest BCC permablogger: Taryn Nelson-Seawright. In addition to having the longest name of anyone on our sidebar, Taryn is smart, interesting and a fine addition to our secret cabal. BCC accordingly joins the ranks of Our Thoughts, LDSLF and New Cool Thang as part of the mormon-blogs-where-both-spouses-blog ring. We soon plan to launch a new aggregator site, the Mormon Isthmus, “Your Gateway to the Spousal Nacle.”

I think the name Taryn is beautiful, so I looked into its etymology. It is a modern elaboration of Tara, which is an anglicized form of the Irish place name Teamhair, which possibly means “elevated place” in Gaelic. This was the name of the sacred hill close to where the Irish high kings resided, and, of course, the name of the O’Hara plantation in Gone with the Wind.

Good addition, BCC, and congratulations, Taryn.

Kevin: You forgot that Tara is also the Tibetan goddess of compassion . . .

Taryn, I don’t care how impressive your blogging credentials get; I’m still not sending you money. :)
Good job, BCC. If you ever do a regular podcast, be sure to have Taryn host. She has a beautiful speaking voice.

Thanks for the catch, Deborah. I also forgot that Tara is Willow’s love interest in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.

Steve, isn’t it true that Russell Fox and Nate Oman are also coming on board? Remind me of the schedule, will you?

Great news — welcome to BCC, Taryn!

Except that Taryn surely is nothing like Willow’s Tara. I’ve never been more relieved but when that character got her brain sucked and then her demise that sends Willow over the edge.
Tara=Whedon bad choice
Taryn=BCC great choice
