Boston Bloggersnacker

Thursday, March 15th, 7 p.m.

Kristine’s house (e-mail for directions)

John Dehlin is in town, and I’m cooking dinner (butternut squash and caramelized onion lasagna, and a dessert decadent enough to make you question your WofW compliance :) ).

Please come!

  1. smb Says:

Wish I could go. Maybe you could fax me the dessert?

  2. Kevin Barney Says:

Oh, Kristine, for those of us away from the eastern seaboard that’s playing really dirty describing the menu that way! Yum.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. hpm Says:

    Kristine,

This is your lurker friend to the south, yea, the person who dumped a random John’s guacamole on your conveniently green-colored rug at the summer Bloggersnacker a couple of years ago. (That would also be the one where Steve Evans called us old because we could remember when Mr. Hooper was alive on Sesame Street. Foolish, foolish boy.) If I promise not to spill any carmelized foodstuffs, may I come on Thursday? Would your children require the offbeat companionship of the Marx brothers, or is this a grownup gathering? If at the last minute I cannot make it, may I intercept smb’s dessert fax?

Heather, who cannot find your email address…

  4. Steve Evans Says:

Heather, you ARE old — but I’m old too! You wear it better, though.

  5. DKL Says:

I’d love to attend, but something has come up at 7pm on that very night. Since this is a weeknight event, things will probably wind-down early. If it’s OK for me to attend at all, might it be OK to arrive between 8:00pm and 8:30pm?

  6. Kaimi Says:

Sounds like fun, Kris, but I think I’m going to have to miss this one. Different coasts, and all.

Though there is always that Augustana song:

I think I’ll go to Boston,
    I think I’ll start a new life,
I think I’ll start it over, where no one knows my name,
I’ll get out of California, I’m tired of the weather,
I think I’ll get a lover and fly em out to Spain,
I think I’ll go to Boston,
I think that I’m just tired
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind,
I think I need a sunrise, I’m tired of the sunset,
I hear it’s nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice,

Boston, where no one knows my name.

Hmm. SoCal weather versus Boston — perhaps they were on drugs when they wrote those lyrics. . .

  7. Kristine Says:

hpm–yes, please come–I’ll make sure to provide some rug-colored menu items!

DKL–we will sit in mournful silence until your arrival, so please come as soon as you can.

    Kaimi, shut up.

  8. Mark IV Says:

Kristine, on 3/15 I’ll be about 12 degrees south of you in latitude and about 45 degrees fahrenheit warmer, darn it. Oh well, as we say here in the midwest, sesst la vye.

Anyone attending will be well advised to express effusive appreciation of Kristine’s collection of Bob Marley albums. Insist on holding the limbo competition before dinner, and be grateful I’m not there to defend my title in the hairy chest contest.

  9. Rusty Says:

Nice four-day warning Kristine. I’d love to come up but won’t be able to make it. However, I’m planning on doing a NYC (Brooklyn) bloggersnacker in May some time (whether John Dehlin comes or not) so you and DKL and ECS and other Bostoners will have to come down.

  10. MDS Says:

For those not attending, but who would like to savor the caramelized onion and decadent delight you describe, perhaps a recipe would be in order?

  11. fMhLisa Says:

I’ll hate your forever if you don’t make me that lasagna. The recipe, can sufice as a short term peace agreement.

  12. meems Says:

    Recipes. Yes.

  13. Ann Says:

Three votes for recipes. Give John a hug for me.

  14. a random John Says:

    What! My guacamole was spilled?

Just for that I won’t come this time.

Ok, actually I won’t come because I no longer live in Boston. Otherwise I’d be there for sure with guacamole and Guaraná.

  15. Guy Murray Says:

    arj,

Where did you acquire your taste for Guaraná? And, more importantly, how do you now satisfy it?

  16. a random John Says:

    Guy Marray,

In Campinas, Brazil of course! I now satisfy it by purchasing it in bulk from a mexican market in Salt Lake.

  17. Guy Murray Says:

Ahh . . . that explains it. I got hooked in Paraguay; but, alas here on California’s Central Coast we have no Guaraná suppliers at all.

  18. DKL Says:

I can vouch for the fact that the butternut squash and caramelized onion lasagna is absolutely amazing. The dessert, likewise, was quite fun. Great time all around. Thanks for hosting it, Kristine. It was terrific.

  19. Kevin Barney Says:

Thanks for the report, DKL. Sounds terrific.

  20. Guy Murray Says:

    DKL . . . photos?

  21. Crystal Says:

I really need to check on blogs more often. Darn it!

I’d be up for traveling down to NY, but I would need enough notice to take off from work.
