  1. nita Says:

    well, waiting to hear! :)

  2. SAP Says:

I went to the priesthood session once, while I was living in France. I got a ride out to the Versailles building with a member of my ward and the missionaries and I don’t think we really knew what session it was going to be. Of course since it was France, I wasn’t the only woman there…

  3. A. Nonny Mouse Says:

The church helped something like 3.5 or 3.9 million people last year through various humanitarian aid programs, including places where we are less welcome like ethiopia and colombia. Pretty cool.

  4. Rachelle Says:

Sorry quick question. When was Relief Society general broadcast…did I miss it?

  5. Tanya Spackman Says:

Rachelle, the RS broadcast is in October. April (or March, as the case may be) is the YW broadcast, which was last Saturday.

  6. jessawhy Says:

I think RS broadcast is in the fall. YW broadcast is in the spring, they had it last weekend, I believe.

  7. Steve Evans Says:

Whereas Priesthood session is so jam-packed with novelty that we need one EACH TIME.

  8. SAP Says:

Steve, that’s where the wonderful explanation that men need more guidance than women comes in…

  9. Steve Evans Says:

SAP, when were you in Versailles?

  10. SC Taysom Says:

I’m playing hookie. Is someone going to give me a summary or what?

  11. SAP Says:

I was in France from Sept. 2001 to June 2002.

  12. Steve Evans Says:

I see. Were you in the branch with the Claytons, then? Just checking.

Taysom, it’s like Adam-Ondi-Ahman. You’re either in or your out. No summaries for you! But I’ll give you a taste: Elder Uchtdorf is the bestest.

  13. SAP Says:

I wasn’t in the Versailles ward. I was in the Antony ward, which wasn’t actually in Antony, but rather in a totally ghetto area just outside the Paris city limits.

  14. SC Taysom Says:

Well, my guess is I won’t be getting an invite to AOA either. I agree about DFU. He’s the toppermost of the poppermost.

  15. Steve Evans Says:

Oh, I know Antony. It is indeed near some choice ghetto. Where was the ward, Maisons-Alfort or something? Horrible.

SC, AOA was last week. Sorry.

  16. SC Taysom Says:

Thanks gst. Evans, was that the meeting they held on April 1st?

  17. SAP Says:

It was in Malakoff. Just charming.

  18. gst Says:

No, the meeting is tonight at 9 o’clock on the ninth green. Wear something nice.

  19. gst Says:

Pres Monson just wiggled his ears to great effect. Really.

  20. gst Says:

It’s all over but for the root beer floats.

  21. SC Taysom Says:

Wiggled his ears? That’s the signal! Gotta go!

  22. gst Says:

    SC, good one.

  23. Eric Russell Says:

President Monson’s ear wiggling story was the funniest General Conference story since his own Herman the water snake story in 02.

  24. Matt W. Says:

I’ve heard the ear wiggling story before. Anyone recall where? (I’ve also heard the boy going up the podium and saying nothing story before) both feel rescent…

  25. Ray Says:

Hearing the ear wiggling story is one thing; seeing his ears wiggling is quite another. My son came home and gave his mom and sisters a replay, laughing hysterically the whole time. Then he told them the application (Men, be the man you want the young man to become.), and my wife immediately teared up. It was quite powerful, even in the retelling. My sons will take that story and that image to his grave, and I am grateful for that.

  26. Brewhaha Says:

For some reason, that meeting seemed like the longest meeting EVER!

BTW, Uchdorff (sp?) is very impressive.

  27. gillsyk Says:

I think the ear wiggling story was in one of the stake-conference-by-satellite-broadcast sessions the church held across the whole state of Arizaona a year or two or three ago, among other possible places it may have been told before.

  28. Mahonri Moriancumr Says:

My Elder is on his mission in Central Point and I’m certain attended at the stake center there just north of the Temple.

I took my Priest, Teacher & Deacon with me along with a neighbor and our stake center was packed!

For the first time in AZ that I know of, Priesthood meeting was simulcast in English and ASL. It is a great blessing for our deaf members.

Elder Cook talked about supporting, sustaining and following our Prophet.

Bishop Burton gave a report of all of the humanitarian work our Church has done in the past year. What a busy Bishop!

All of the talks were good.

My kids paid close attention to all three members of the First Presidency and Pres. Monson’s ears were hysterical but I had seen him do it before. He said his wife had told him NOT to tell the story. Guess he won this time.

I’d say the major theme for the evening was, stay on the straight and narrow, be obedient and DON’T procrastinate the day of your repentance.

We met up with a bunch of other members at the Home Town buffet and the boys got all they could eat. What a great evening.

  29. parismormon Says:

Steve, were you in France in the past few years? How do you know the Claytons?

  30. Peter LLC Says:

How do you know the Claytons?

    If he told you…

  31. A. Nonny Mouse Says:

Mahonri Moriancumr, I’m pretty sure that it’s simulcast every year in ASL. Your stake may have just chosen to display the ASL simulcast instead of the plain English channel.

  32. nita Says:

#16′s link doesn’t work so will someone summarize the ear wiggling tale! thanks in advance!

  33. Steve Evans Says:

parismormon, I go way back with the Claytons. Et vous, O mormon parisien(nne)?

  34. parismormon Says:

Frere Clayton was my BP for some time. I wonder- are you in the large group photo that he has of the Branch?

  35. Steve Evans Says:

    nope, I predate that one.

  36. parismormon Says:

Any plans to come back to Paris? Did you know the Bradfords or was that the wrong time, too? Sorry to all for this threadjack.

  37. Steve Evans Says:

parismormon, I’ll shoot you an email (assuming you’re using a real email address for your comments).

  38. oops Says:

He also wiggled his ears at BYU Stake Conferences in 2006 I think. In every session. :)

  39. Celia Patten Mason Says:

The General RS meeting is today Saturday, April 12. Kind of weird the church website isn’t really advertising it, but it’s today. All the meetings are available pretty soon after the fact to watch or listen to now.
