Mormon Engagement With the World Religions–Conference at USC

If you’re in or near SoCal next weekend, you should check out this conference at USC. For one thing, it’s probably the only time Daniel Peterson and I will ever be on a program together–talk about ecumenism! Seriously, it’s an astonishing lineup of folks, and I’m really looking forward to listening and observing.

FID Mormon Chapter – Conference Program

  1. Wow, that is an impressive line up! I’m very tempted to go. Thanks a lot for pointing this out.

  2. Stephanie says:

    Wow is right.

  3. Thanks for the reminder! We don’t need to make a reservation or anything? I’m excited this is happening at USC, my school! Maybe I’ll have to call in sick for work Friday- otherwise can just make it on Saturday!

  4. Wowzer. That program is spectacular.

  5. I agree with what many others have said: whoa. That is a bunch of serious heavy-hitters assembled together. Though I don’t think your and Daniel Peterson’s presence at the same conference is nearly as impressive, Kristine, as the fact that you, Ralph Hancock, and Fred Gedicks are all on the same panel…or that Bob Millet and Greg Prince are on a single panel as well. That latter one has the potential to provide serious fireworks.

  6. Kristine says:

Well, my presence is in no case impressive :) But I agree that the sessions have potential to be really interesting. I honestly have no idea what to expect.

  7. Chris H. says:

Kristine and Ralph on the same panel…I feel a roadtrip coming on.

  8. Kevin Barney says:

Outstanding program. Makes me wish I were both rich and retired; I would definitely be there. Godspeed to those of you who can make it!

  9. I believe that registration is still required.

  10. I got an email saying that there were about 40 spots left, with 130 taken already.

  11. That looks like an amazing program. I wish I could go to more Mormon studies symposia.

  12. Latter-day Guy says:

Looks like somebody needs to send Elder Porter a copy of Alternate Voices, before he makes a terrible mistake!

Seriously, I hope some attendees will be able to blog at least a smidgen of this. The program looks fantastic.

  13. Some on this list might be interested in my perspective on the conference as an attendee and as someone involved in the forming Evangelical Chapter of FID:
