“I’m a Mormon” video of the month: A physicist and a biologist

This month we feature a pair of videos: Physicist Dr. Ngo, and Geneticist Dr. Livingstone.

Each Fast Sunday, we feature a video from the Mormon.org website. We invite our readers to check back each month for a new favorite, and to share these posts with your friends and family. (Previous posts archive.)

  1. First, Dialogue gets a nod, now evolutionary science is featured. Verily, there are two churches.

  2. Kevin Barney says:

When I was a boy I too rode a unicycle for a time. And the second guy obviously went to the Cynthia L. school of gesturing in class; he’s a pro. These were great.

  3. “I believe in embracing arboreal specimens.” Took me a couple seconds to get it, but that is a fantastic line.

  4. Tom Ngo is a wonderful, brilliant person. We were in the same ward in Arlington, MA, while he was pursuing his Masters Degree at Harvard, and I became the Financial Clerk when he was released. I treasure the friendship we had. I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone more intellectually gifted yet incredibly humble.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

  5. I feel like my testimony shouldn’t be bolstered by learning about the lives of other intellectual Mormons (not that I myself am one, I just sometimes like to pretend I am), but I can’t help but think along the lines of, “If they can, I can.”

I have a few friends who go to Trinity University, and they say Dr. Livingstone really is this friendly and positive in real life.

  6. I can’t overstate how much these videos mean to me. The expansive, joyful, curious, embracing, achieving life that these videos model is so inspiring to me, and so reassuring to me.

RJH, indeed. Just saw this one about an artist who sculpts nudes (in German) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPvj2q-qAL4&list=PLC3919215DCC6CBE1. Things are going to be ok in the end.

  7. J. Stapley says:

    Thanks, Cynthia.

  8. >Things are going to be ok in the end.

But which of the Two Churches, is the True Church? These are interesting times indeed.

  9. Kevin Barney says:

That was a good one, Gina. These are so inspiring. Whoever’s bright idea it was to do these I’m a Mormon videos deserves a standing ovation in next General Conference.
