Prayer for Ash Wednesday: God of Creation, as we come before you, marked with the sign of your Son’s death, and of our own, to make us mindful of our faults, both in what we have done and what we have left undone, grant that we might beat the swords of our injustice into the ploughshares that cultivate the new creation, that, full of the Holy Spirit we too might find new life in our celebration of the Resurrection, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for the Thursday after Ash Wednesday: God of Abundance, you whose Spirit fed Jesus during his sojourn in the wilderness: be the bread and water that nourishes us in our fast, and let your spiritual food remake our bodies, that each day we might more perfectly reflect your image in us, as we learn the arts of peace that bring us ever nearer to being one people, as you are One God, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
